Passion in the Kitchen
A romantic ephemeral collection based on my parent’s relationship in their restaurant. Creative fabric manipulation techniques combined with an organic approach to garment construction are the main drives in my work.
My aim is to reflect the beauty of nature in the clothes that we wear. Shimmering Crowntails is an exploration of the reflective and refractive metallic surface qualities of fish. The challenge is to turn something old into something new, to create beautiful handcrafted unique, vintage garments with a contemporary look.
Luv Club brings together two contrasting identities: traditional Croatian dress and the creativity instigated in a clubbing environment. I pay homage to the Licitar, a gift of love and use my personal documentation of clubs and parties to create a new identity. A celebration of love and party culture.
In ancient Ireland, mythology and folklore were a fundamental part of the knowledge encompassing each tree. They were talismans, each with their own meanings, uses and stories. My work explores native Irish woodlands through the juxtaposition of each species recreated in cloth, with excerpts from the National Folklore Collection.

This is the very first window display I have created during the Visual Merchandising course I did at DIT College in Dublin. I wanted to create a window which was a mix of a traditional British style and child-like drawings. I wanted to show this in a grotesque way, as a place where little girls like to dress in their mother’s clothes pretending they are adults. The window proposal is made of an electric tape, chalk and handmade paper bags as a merchandising product.

Last weekend I had a quick run through Dublin town. I wanted to check the spring windows display. It is a long and cold winter this year anno domini 2018. Only very few stores have made a reference to the Easter time and mostly inside of a store rather than in the windows. Otherwise, the displays are domineered by a splash of vivid and intense colours for the coming season.

The company is based in Germany and it is a supplier of a wide range of props and products for window displays and various decorations. Hope for those who are interested in or work in visual merchandising it would be a useful website to browse on 🙂
Some people do really like traditional shopping, I am not one of them. Unless it is a nice day spoiled with a good coffee. My idea of window shopping is screen shopping … while watching my favourite TV show or recently a lecture on design. I open another window and browse on Etsy. Even just looking at the handmade accessories makes me feel good, appreciating the skills and creativity of the artist. I am transferred to a fantasy world.
The day I found the Tiger and Lion silver, eco earrings made by Them Silver Seas I was looking for something quirky with a personality. Something I have not seen before. The theme is called Nights at the Circus. (I am not sure if animals in the circus are banned in most of the countries, but I would hope that they are. They never looked happy there anyway.)
This is the kind of work I admire the most, the artist Laura Brown does not explain in details what the story is about but leaves it to the viewer interpretation. With a similar effect some good movies have on us or a photograph that is never forgotten … they stay with us forever.
I have no idea where and how the story of The Tiger and The Lion had begun and where is it leading to. What I love the most is now I am the creator of the story too 🙂

This is only a proposal without any budget limitation. The concept was to design a summer window for a fashion brand that took part in New York Fashion Week 2016.
Desigual is a casual clothing brand based in Barcelona, Spain. Founded by a Swiss man Thomas Meyer in 1984. Desigual in Spanish means uneven/unequal and the concept is applied in the brand design, through the use of asymmetry, patchworks, prints, graffiti art, and splashes of intense colour.
The project involved the design of two window display for the summer season. One for a large window at the front of the store with a dividing panel in the middle and a small window which in real life, would be somewhere off the main foot traffic. Both windows had to follow the same theme. I called the theme Summer in the City. Summer in a very hot climate can be hard to bear, without much greenery and water to cool down the end of the day is a blessing.
My large window is based on an idea of a play. A bunch of friends feel comfortable with each other jumping across cascading water. The heat is making them crazy, they feel free and they need to cool down, la vida es loca (life is crazy) as Desigual motto says.
The smaller window is inspired by a city seen as a concrete jungle. A couple of friends are hanging out in the skatepark preserving their energy chilling out.
Perhaps at the back of my mind, I was designing the windows for Barcelona city where the hit can be as high as 40 degrees. Probably in other cooler places the concept would come across more like people having fun rather than an escape from the heat. At least I would hope so 🙂
‘EARLY SPRING’ WINDOW CONCEPT FEATURING LAMP AS A MERCHANDISING PRODUCT
Initially, I wanted to make the lamp with a white cotton, adding a bit of white feather here and there and paint the walls in a very fresh, sky blue colour. Unfortunately, I was directed a slightly different way, as the goal of the exercise was to work with a material without putting a pressure on it. Apparently, the white cotton was too easy and I had to work with something more challenging. The Pantone Colour of the S/S 2015 was Radiant Orchid, so the colour had to be used in my window.
There is the short time in the year when winter has not finished yet and spring has not started. The transition time when nature is dying and has yet to be reborn. This lamp window design references the cycle of life, with the idea that a lamp light is an important part of what makes a living space … like in a night garden.
THE MAKING PROCESS
The lamp is made out of textured wallpapers that are shaped into flower petals, swirling on the ground are encouraging new plants to show up and blossom. I was aware that the window at this stage looked a little bit dark for the spring season, the colours of the lamp reflect more on autumn and long dark evenings. It needed something uplifting, therefore I added the white swallow at the top left corner. All the symbols put together helped me to develop the story of a cycle of life in nature, with an idea, that everyday objects surrounding us can transform into something else as well.
